More Information about Processor (CPU) Type and Speed

To use the basic functionality of Elgato Game Capture HD, including video capture and editing, your CPU needs to be multi-core.  It needs to have two or more cores.

The CPU also needs to be 2.0 Ghz or faster.

If your processor only has one core, then it will not be able to use all Elgato Game Capture HD features.

If your processor has two cores, but is slower than 2.0 Ghz, then it will not be able to use all Elgato Game Capture HD features.

CPUs that are too slow will cause various problems that will not be solvable, such as incorrect playback or capture.  Such a slow CPU is not supported in any way.  The only remedy would be to use a better CPU.

Intel Processors

To find out more about your Intel CPU, visit:

http://ark.intel.com

That database will tell you how fast the CPU is, in Ghz

It will also tell you how many cores it has - 2 or more cores are needed.

Most i5 or i7 processors will have 2 or more cores

A processor with a suffix like "U" (Ultra-low voltage) or "M" is not always recommended, since it will have significantly lower performance. They might seem to be powerful, but the U or M suffix indicates that they have much lower performance than other processors in that family or generation.

AMD Processors

Many processors made by AMD are also compatible.  They should be at least as powerful as a 2.0 Ghz (or higher) dual core CPU, or 2.0 Ghz (or higher) multi-core i3, i5 or i7 CPU processor.

To compare AMD processors to the Intel processors mentioned above, you can use benchmarks like those found here:

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/

Not all processors made by AMD or other manufacturers will have 2 or more cores.

More Information about Total Installed RAM

To use the basic functionality of Elgato Game Capture HD, including video capture and editing, your total amount of installed RAM needs to be 4GB or higher.

If you have less than 4GB of installed RAM, then there will be various problems that will not be solvable, such as incorrect playback or capture.  Such a low amount of RAM is not supported in any way. The only remedy would be to install more RAM.
